Monopodial epiphytes. Stem very short to elongated. Leaves few to several, distichous, sheathing at the base, glabrous, deciduous, dorso-ventrally flattened or rarely almost terete, duplicate. Inflorescence glabrous or hairy, a few- to many-flowered lateral raceme with the flowers often appearing in succession, one or a few at a time, rarely inflorescence one-flowered. Flowers small to medium-sized, ephemeral, usually resupinate. Sepals free. Petals free, about as long as the sepals but narrower. Lip spurred, hinged to the column, the spur inside without callosities. Column-foot at least half as long as the column. Pollinia 2, cleft, rarely 4, solid, caudicles absent, stipe present, viscidium present.

India, continental Southeast Asia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines; about 20 species.

Habitat
Epiphytes in lowland and montane forest.
Notes
A genus with rather attractive but short-lived flowers, related to Brachypeza and Macropodanthus, characterised by the long column-foot and the spur that continues the line of the column-foot. Not often cultivated.
